LOAD SIZING & MULTI-DEVICE SPLITTER ENGINE

Current Calculator & Multi-Device Sizer

Calculate total electrical current draw, size power supplies applying the 80% continuous duty safety rule, and sum multiple devices sharing a single DC splitter.

Cooler & longer lifespan
💡 The 80% Rule: Power supplies last years longer when running below 80% capacity continuous load. Using a 12V 2.5A or 12V 3A adapter for a 2A device prevents overheating and voltage sag during peak loads.

The Golden Rule of Amperage in DC Power Supplies

Current is PULL, not PUSH

The device's internal circuitry dictates how much electrical current (Amps) it draws. An adapter rated at 12V 5A connected to a 12V 1A camera will only deliver 1 Amp. Having extra amperage capacity is 100% safe and runs cooler.

The Danger of Undersized Amps

Using a 1A adapter on a 2A device causes the adapter to overheat, trigger its overcurrent thermal shutdown, or output sagged voltage resulting in device reboots and shortened adapter lifetime.
